Is it just me or are people also getting the same problem,
after i installed the spyware software my Dcom service
stopped and will not start again now. and also my Windows
Installer Service is tempremental it does not start on
its own anymore even if set to Automatic..

i have to keep going in to services.msc and enabling the
installer every time i want to install or remove an
application.

the dcom server process launcher error i get is
Error 1083. The Executable program that this service is
configured to run in does not implement the service.

any ideas on how to fix this.

I've been having the problem too. I have XP SP2 and my
pc shut down twice for no apparent reason. Turned on
with no problem except that everything that is supposed
to automatically update, doesn't.
I got the error code 1719, but I dodn't know it until I
was going through my Temp file.
Only way to fix it is to remove it using Add/Remove
Programs.

There is a program called Windows Installer Cleanup
utility which might help with the install problem.

There is another program called dcomcnfg

Start Run dcomcnfg

Which may be able to help with dcom problems but it takes
a lot of experience to use it.

As another poster suggested try removing it completely
then run the cleanup utility then reinstall it. See if it
works better.

Could also be you already have antispy-aware spyware which
is getting in the way.

Get HijackThis.exe from
http:/www.tomcoyote.com/hjt/HijackThis.exe

Save it then Open it and SCAN your system then SAVE LOG
and send me the HijackThis log as an attachment. You can
try just copying it and pasting it into a reply but I
might not see it.
