Application of GPO's not working from Windows XP

I have double checked all the permissions and setting for
the 'Sysvol' share on the Win2k Adv Srv machine being used
as the DC, and can access the share via the 'Run' command
with a simple '\\domain name\sysvol' command. This only
works from the DC though, when I log into WinXP I cannot
access this share the same way I must add the computer
name of the DC to the domain name. Although I can access
all other shares via '\\domain name\share name' on the
WinXP machines. I have added the registry
setting 'DisableDFS'
under 'HDCM\system\currentcontrolset\services\mup' and set
it to '0' (zero), but I still have to think that DFS is
not installed properly on the XP machines or something
along this line. Any suggestions?

Are there any GPO-related errors on the XP machine's
event viewer? If there are any other clients, do those
clients get GPO's correctly?

What is the error you get when trying \\domainname\sysvol
from the XP machine?

Also, is the XP machine using ONLY the domain controller
as its DNS server?

I'm not totally convinced that the DFS client is the
complete culprit. Mind humoring me and seeing what the
results are for the rest of the issues I raised?
Also, are there any event viewer errors except for the
one that specifically says gpt.ini?

This is the only error that I get in the event viewer. I
don't get any other networking related events at all. I
can do a 'nslookup' just fine from the DC and the XP box,
I do notice that the 'Redir and Browser test' fails when I
do a 'netdiag' though. Could this be the culprit? Thanks
for the help.

You know, I did a simple 'netdiag /test:Browser' and it
says:

[FATAL] Cannot send mailslot message
to '\\DOMAIN*\MAILSLOT\NET\NETLOGON' via redir.
[ERROR_BAD_NETPATH]

Does this help?
