I'm on a win2k sp4 comp with several spyware and trojans after "poor
judgement"-surfing on the internet by our personell, Errorsafe is one of them.

When I try to run Defender for the first time after install the application
can't initialize and complains about a lack of mapping between the account
name and security-ID. I had to add GDI+ for the installation to go trough but
now I'm stuck.

How do I rectify this? Thanks in advance!

Hello Mike ; may be it Is better not to spraid the problem because it seems
nobody administrate the forum and propose to classified/group the questions
by similar contain or environnement.
..You are one more to adress this 0x80010534 in W2000 SP4 ....generally is
adress in the newsgroup "Installation."....since th27 of july......as you
could read in this "Installation newsgoup" as far as now nobody provide a fix
, just repeat we have to do thinks we all have done previously to adress the
problem ! Sorry to said that the more we will be to claim may be we will
received some good solution from microsoft experts. good luck .thanks

Helo Mike,

For the Trojan try this:

Go for scans in safe mode and also add Ewido and Ccleaner as Ewido performs
great with Trojans and Ccleaner will clear your temp folders where a lot of
malware hides installers

First remove all temporarily junk with CCleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com
Then try Ewido for removal:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

http://www.ccleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
Note, When you install Ccleaner, uncheck the Yahoo toolbar option.
Note, in Options, Settings, Advanced, uncheck - Only delete files in Windows
folders older than 48 hours.
Note: uncheck Windows Defender in the applications.
Open Ccleaner and press "Windows" "Aplications" and Run Cleaner from the
menu choose 'Issues' and then press scan for issues, Repair any fºund.
Run twice Ccleaner, the same as above, until you get “0 bytes to be removedâ€.

*When installing Ewido, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install
background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
*Run Ewido. From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu,
then click the Start update buttºn.
*After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display
"Update successful")

Now scan with Ewido. Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then
click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.

Once its started scanning it will display an alert window when it finds any
infected files, when you see this first alert check the boxes "Perform action
with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on ºk

When the scan finishes, If ewido finds anything in the scan click on "Save
Report". This will create a text file. Save to desktop or c:drive incase you
need to post it bªck.

While I posting Ewido does say its a 14 day free trial but it still works
fine after the trial has expired, All it does after the 14 days is stop the
real time protection and auto updates but I never advise that to be enabled
at setup anyway as it can interfere with other real time protection programs
plus the updates can be done manually anytime you wish so it may be usefull
to keep it incase you need to use it again in the future.

For the benefit of the community reading this post, please rate the pºst.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Yes, this did the trick for spyware n' trojans. It turned out to be quite a
bit of malware on this comp. And it wasn't Errorsafe as I thought, that was
only a spoof by SpyWareQuake to put me on the wrong track. Anyway the stuff
is gone now and many thanks for your help! :)

Still can't get the defender to run but I guess I don't need it now, I'll
just use Ewido instead.

Hi Mike,

WD is defending against Spy ware, real time!
Ewido is not, so different things!

Rigth, so ... OK for WD, but ... how can I remove the error
quoted in the subject: 0x80010534 ?

Cordialement,

Thanks for posting this, and I'm sorry I don't have any better advice to offer.

R u sure, I'm running Ewido in the system tray and at Shield I've "Resident
shield is active". Sure sounds like real-time to me but I could be wrong.

HiMike,

You are talking about the new 4.0 anti spy of Ewido, then you have real
time protection alright.

Hi Mike,

Do you have also AV real time protection?

Regards >*< TOM >*<

MikeTheBike schreef:

No, I don't think there's any point in using AV anymore since it's re-active
and not pro-active and some 200 viruses are not being stopped anyway since
their signature is too close to approved "normal" files, i.e. doc, pdf, etc.

Hi Hailwood,

if you could see what my PcCillin stops at a regular basis i dont think
you schould speak like that.
If there are 2.000.000 viruses that are stopt against 200 that come
true, i like to stop the 1.999.9800! ;)

Hi Tom,

I've done half what you recommended.
Please, see explanations embedded.
(The important question is about DAF.)

Tom Emmelot a écrit :
Try this won:
Uninstall WD again,
Ok, done.
download this program:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
Install it without the Yahoo bar!
Let CCleaner at default, Clean the registry and the Temp!
Ok, done.
download this program:
http://download.betanews.com/download/1131569373-2/Dial-a-fix-full.exe
Run this program with all the functions activated.
I am not able (just rules in my company) to run a program when I don't
know what it does.
I've looked for informations on DAF, I think that I can run it if I can
trace what it does.
The computer on which occured the error 0x80010534 is an internet
server for 3 associations (voluntarily!) and I can't take the risk to
scratch their site. (they are very nice and friendly)

So, do you know if *DAF prompts* for each change it suggest in the
registry ?
Install WD again .
Let me now how it works.

PS:(1) On my personnal computer (a laptop), with XP, I installed WD.
Installed and started! UI working, ... all is fine.

(2) All my o.s. (obviously!) are perferctly licenced, updated, ...
(Since 1980, follwing Dos, (Win1, Win2), Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98,
NT3, NT4, (NT5), Win2000, WinXP, I think I am owner of about a
hundred of licences on a hundred of computers, ... two used today)

Cordialement,

Hi Cti,

DAF do not prompt for the action it takes, by hover over a action DAF
let you see as a balloon tip what it is going to take for action.
See also there site for more info.
