The Application Eventlog on my Windows 2000 Server SP4
seems to be empty. When I click on the Security or the
System log, they are empty aswell, but when I refresh the
view there are suddenly a lot of entries (normal entries).
I can refresh all I want, the Application log shows no
items. When I click in the details window, there seem to
be lines in the log but I can't see any text. Has anybody
got an idea about what's going on here?

I have not yet installed the DirectX 9.0b patch, so I
guess we can rule that one out as the source of the
problem. Indeed, when I select either the Security or
System log it returns a normal amount of enrties. Only
when I select the Application log, all logs appear empty.
Sounds like something somebody at Microsoft should take a
look at. Is there a way to escalate a message to them?

FYI I am seeing this as well on a 2000 server with SP4 and KB8239080
Hotfix installed.

I have also starting experiencing this problem since installing SP4 on
Windows 2000 Server. I routinely apply all updates identified as
"critical" using the Windows Update utility.
