I created a simple app using the MFC Application wizard in Visual C++ 5.0. It compiles with no errors. When I select Execute i get the following error

Application erro

"The instruction at "0x0012ff24" referenced memory at '0xFFd30e9c. The memory could not be read

I am using Visual C++ 5.0 Professional. The problem seems related to the OS that my laptop is running, WIN 2000 PRO. I have try downloading the latest SP for C++ and the error still exists. I have install visual C++ on another machine running XP Home and didnt have any problems. I even have problems loading and running the CD: "mastering visual C++" that came with visual C++. All on the Win 2000 PRO laptop

Is there a compatibility issue with WIN 2000 PRO and Visual C++ V5.0

If I create a simple console app, “Hello World†it executes just fine

I have searched and found nothing. I am new to developing win apps using Visual C++ and any help would be appreciated

thank yo

Sounds like you are indexing past the end of an array. You can use tools like DevPartner to help track down this type of problem. Check your pointer arithmetic
