Anytime I'm logged onto the Internet, it seems that every couple of
minutes an "Application Error" message pops up on my screen.

It's a gray box with a big red "X."

The top bar of the box says: "iexplore.exe - Application Error"

The box itself says: "The instruction at '0x62308d19' referenced memory
at '0x026638cc'. The memory could not be 'read'. Click on OK to
terminate the program"

So I click on OK and that box appears again, and I have to click OK
again.

And then a box pops up that says: "Internet explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

It's VERY annoying.

Also, just FYI, I have FireFox installed and typically use it as my
browser. I went into Add/Remove Programs and tried disabling Internet
Explorer, but it must somehow still be working.

If anyone has a suggestion on how to solve this, I'd really appreciate
it.

Thanks,
Jay

What Operating System / Service Pack are you running?
When you get the message:
"Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Click on the link to see the details -
What is the ModName and the ModVer?
You probably have some junk toolbar(s) installed like
Google or Yahoo or Starware or some other stupid spyware
crap. The ModName / ModVer may help lead to the real culprit.

There's actually a clue in his headers:
[X-HTTP-UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6,gzip(gfe),gzip(gfe)]

FWIW I have the same OS and I don't have anything loaded there.
So the Error Signature might say: "Module: Unknown"

Therefore, I'd say try using Process Explorer to find out what is loaded
at 0x62300000 *before* the crash. E.g. one possible explanation
for a crash at an unsual address like this is that a third-party module
was once loaded there and somehow (e.g. old entries on the stack)
it is being re-entered after being unloaded.

Agreed, if it is still loaded. <w>

You are probably infested with malware.
Malware Removal:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

The ModName is: yiesrvc.dll
The ModVer is: 2005.5.26.1

Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

Thanks!

Just wanted to let you all know that I followed the steps outlined in
the link you gave me as much as I could, Frank, to remove malware.

And the good news is, so far, I haven't gotten that message. I'll let
you know if the problem comes back up.

Thanks!

Find out what it is (e.g. use File, Properties) then disable or uninstall
whatever installed it. Do not try to delete or replace individual modules.

It's not a file created by Microsoft, I don't think.
The "y" makes me think it could be part of something
created by Yahoo! but I don't know.

Try a search?

http://www.file.net/process/yiesrvc.dll.html

(Google web search for
inurl:yiesrvc
)

Apparently it's possible for it to be a Trojan
in which case you might have trouble trying
to uninstall it as if it was the real thing.
(Malware tends not to play by the rules.)

Thanks!

yiesrvc.dll may be from Yahoo IE services or it can also be malware diguised
as such. Do _everything_ suggested on Malke's site in my other post.
