Has anyone used AD and GPO's to distribute apps? If so,
what are the limitations & caveat's, pros and cons?

Thanks in advance!

Also, it's my understanding that you can't do this to NT
4.0 workstations in an AD environment because they're not
AD aware objects capable for receiving directory
advertisements.... Is this correct?

Mike,

This is one of the wonderfull aspects about AD. You use
GPO to deploy software. Not any cons to that ( well, at
least, that I can see ) and tons of pros ( like you do
not need to touch each and every computer! ).

Take a look at Jerry Moscowitz' book on Group Policy ( by
Sybex ). It is a very very good source of information.

And, yes, this applies to WIN2000 and above. With
WINNT / WIN9x you can install the ADClients software that
will make them site-aware but you still can not take full
advantage of GPOs...

HTH,

Cary
