I have Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal also on my computer
with the Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1. I haven't seen any
problems with them working together or is this a redundant
thing to do. It seems the Ad-Aware catches many things
which I then delete, while Microsoft AntiSpyware hasn't
caught anything. Thanks!

This is intentional, but not well documented, I'm afraid.
This build doesn't scan for cookies.

Is it safe to keep Ad-Aware or will it fight with the AntiSpyware. Are they
both good to have?

I don't know of any issues with ad-aware. It does scan for and selectively
remove cookies, which Microsoft Antispyware does not. It also has a vx2
cleaner add-on which may (at the moment) do a better job removing some vx2
variants than Microsoft Antispyware does.

Most knowledgeable reviewers of antispyware apps have suggested that running
more than one is a good idea. Where this may get dicey is when more than
one provides some form of active protection--but even then, I really don't
know of any known "don't do this" combinations.

Since installing MS AntiSpyware Beta2, I have an odd
problem with AdWatch (the active monitoring component of
AdAware). I've tried many times to get AdAwareSE NOT to
load AdWatch at Startup (through both AdAware & AdWatch's
preference menus).
However, when I restart, inevitably, AdAware attempts to
load, yielding error messages (AdWatch cannot load & also
failure to make a SystemTray icon for AdWatch). It's
primarily an annoyance, but thought I'd mention it to see
if anyone has come across a fix...
FYI, I'm running AdAware SE, updated daily on a capable
P3 M laptop with over 1GB of RAM. Plenty of room on the
hard drive (~50%). Any ideas?

THANKS.
TabletPC.

I don't think this is anything caused by having Microsoft Antispyware
running.

I've never run the pro version of Ad-aware. One thought would be to
uninstall Ad-aware, reboot, and then reinstall choosing not to activate that
feature--if that's possible in the installation choices.
