Application compability issue

Hi all -
I have set the settings for app. compatibility for
my son's games, and
I set the 256 colors and 640x480. When I run the game,
however, it only changes to 256 colors. It does not
change to 640x480. I can go in manually into the advanced
properties of display settings and change it manually,
but my son - well he cannot (being 6 and all). Please
help - practically all his games need this setting!

Thanks,
Erpara

I am the only non-default account on the machine - set as
administrator.
The resolution is 1024x768 and it does not change the
resolution at all. It is set to allow changes without
restart - and let me mention that I had xp installed
previously and these programs ran the way they were
supposed to so I'm not convinced it has anything to do
with the games.
Also, I can go in manually to the advanced properties and
set it to 640x480, 256 colors, 60 Hz - so I don't think
it's a video card issue.

UGH!

Hi,

I gave several suggestions to you in the previous post you
made on this subject, which you didn't respond to. Did
you try them, or did you miss that reply to your post? :-)

Yes, I did receive your post:

I cannot change the settings on Windows XP games, as they
do not require application compatibility settings. I did
try this on another game and the same thing occured.
There is no setting within the game to change the
resolution - there is no .ini file because it runs from
the CD, not the hard drive.
BTW, this is "Little Monster at school" from Living
Books, only one of the many games my son can't play now
(without help).

Okay Thanks. Without feedback from my previous
efforts, I had no idea if you had seen my post at all.

Cheers,
Jimmy.
