Application access to internet

I seem to have done something bad. My applications no
longer have access to the internet. Email is ok, IE
works good. If I try and run for example windows media
player, it comes up with the no internet page. Or online
gaming no longer sees the internet connection. All the
applications that access the internet used to work. I am
unsure what happened, help please.

Some of the recent viruss and spybot problems do this sort of thing.
Have you checked your machine?

I have Norton Internet Security installed and up to date
and also adaware I just ran.
