Will the Apple drivers supplied with Boot Camp software for XP work in
Vista? Or will we need to dowload various drivers from the device
manufacturers?

PLEASE let me know soon, since I will be receiving my Vista DVD next
week, probably, and I'm anxious to install Vista on my Intel iMac 17"

It would make much more logical sense to pose
your question to the Vendor responsible for Boot
Camp. I don't think Microsoft wrote the
program, so it is not logical to expect
Microsoft to know the intricate details of
Apple's software!

Rick, I will be kind, and just tell you that Microsoft seldom reads
these articles. They are too busy writing code.

This newsgroup is what is called "peer support" by Microsoft.
Normally, users and their "peers" (other users) post here to get USER
EXPERIENCE, not support from Microsoft.

This is why I posted here, anyway.

If I want help from Microsoft, I will email or phone their Tech
Support department.

And if I want to read idiocy, I will open up CSMA
(comp.sys.mac.advocacy) and read it. I really do expect better from
Windows fanatics.

But thanks for an opportunity to waste 10 minutes of my valuable time,
anyway.

You must really be joking!

You actually think you will encounter a
significant difference between Apple fanatics,
Windows fanatics, and Linux fanatics?

My experience is they are all about the same!

But, if it's any consolation, there are some EFI
files on the DVD, including a cdboot.efi. Maybe
that's what you need.

Thanks, Rick. I appreciate the empty time you've used to give me
non-answers.

By the way, which Apple Intel did YOU install Vista on?

My original suggestion was correct. See the

Mac mini: Windows Vista Ready
Tuesday, May 23, 2006 2:00 PM EST

There has been some discussion in our Boot Camp
Forum (
http://www.123macmini.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=66
) about whether or not the Intel-based Mac minis
will be compatible with Windows Vista. Most of
the discussion seems to be centered around Aero,
the new graphical user interface in Windows
Vista. The Aero interface features translucent
windows, 3D perspective, animations, rich
texture and more.

According to the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor
Beta, Aero will be supported on the Mac mini,
but there are a few requirements. You must have
at least 1GB of memory installed in your Mac
mini and 15GB of free hard drive space. If your
hard drive doesn't have enough free space, you
will receive a warning telling you what actions
to take.

The Upgrade Advisor also allows you to test the
compatibility of your Mac mini with the other
features offered in Windows Vista. I am happy to
report that the Mac mini will support all of the
features listed, with the exception of those
dealing with TV tuner cards and Windows Media
Center connectivity. It will also advise you on
what version of Windows Vista to purchase based
on the features you select. And that, my
friends, is where I called it a day. There is
only going to be one operating system in my
future. Think Leopard!
