Appending rows or columns to a table

When using "Insert Rows" in a table the rows are inserted above the selected
row. How can I append rows to an existent table? Same question to append new
columns to table.
 
Always helps to state the version you use.

in 2007 you just need to right click in a cell to get options to insert rows
above and below and columns before or after.

In earlier versions you should show the table toolbar if it isn't already
there and click on the "table " dropdown. If you need this a lot the commands
can be added to the right click menu (table cells shortcut)
