apostrophe

Every time I type "my dad's company..." it comes out as "my dad' s
company..." Word adds in a large space between the apostrophe and whatever
comes after it.
 
Does this only occur for the exact string 'my dad's company' or does it
occur every time you try to use the apostrophe s?
