Sorry about listing the same questions 4 times. The website was telling me
there was an error in posting my question. I tried 4 times.

Another reason to dump the Microsoft web interface and read newsgroups
with a newsreader, the way they were intended to be read. You'll be much
happier.

Yeah, that can happen pretty frequently with the Web interface. You'll
find you get much better results if you use a standard newsreader, such as
Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, Free Agent,
etc.

It's easy to set up, the sever name is:

msnews.microsoft.com

Take all the defaults otherwise, but it's not a great idea to use your real
email address, as this will get you spam mail. You don't even need a
username or password. Also, if your reader supports it, leave the
Communities feature OFF.

I'd be much happier if you stop trying to shove your ideas down the OP's
throat!

Typical arrogance from you.

This isn't a forum; it's a newsgroup. The reason you're having such
problems is that you are using the awful web interface to participate
in this newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most error-prone
method of using the newsgroups there is. Do yourself a favor and
switch to a newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes with
Windows XP, or Windows Mail, which comes with Vista. See

Very strange how I don't have problems with the Web interface, isn't it?
Can't YOU use it properly?

That comment doesn't actually teach MoJR how to use the web interface!
Criticism is ok if it is constructive - not smart ass!

If you would open your eyes, you would see that it is my reply to Ken Blake,
NOT the OP.

I suggest that you learn how to read posts here!

I know it was a reply to Ken Blake!! You seem to be hell-bent on smartass
remarks instead of being helpful.

Considering the number of different names you use, it'd be hard to tell
anyway. If I cared, that is, which I don't.

Most anyone with any gray matter could use it properly, but most prefer
not to because it's unreliable, slow and often way behind the current
status of the group/s at any given time. Usually people who do use it
are so stuck on gui that they can't function without it, which is
exactly what makes groups so inviting to most.

I don't mind using it; maybe because I know how to use it properly.
Now and again there are probs with it; nothing is perfect.

I use ONE (1) name, idiot.
And I always have used ONE name.

If you are the big know-all about Newsreaders, you should have learned to
read Headers to see WHO posts garbage.

But reading your posts here, you obviously don't have the intelligence to do
that.

The only disadvantage to using the Web Interface is that I can not killfile
fools like you.

Agreed, however outlook express has a magnitude less problems.

It is what we are happy using. To each their own. You like OE, I like WI.
It just gets to me, when those so-called "experts" shove their ideas down
people's throats.

Gentlemen,
I heartily apologize for spurring such a heated and emotional debate.
However, no program, interface etc. is perfect. This is understood by all.
Shit happens! I will look into using OE as a reader.
Thank you for the suggestions.

Hello gentlemen,
Well, I setup OE Newsreader as suggested. Went fine no problems. However,
the next time I opened Outlook and clicked the news link on the toolbar, a
folder 1033 opened. I deleted the news link from the toolbar thinking it
somehow had become corrupt. I put a new news link on the toolbar and same
thing. I deleted that link, shut down Outlook. I re-opened Outlook and tried
to install a new news link but it was no where to be found. What gives? Why
did the first and second links open only folder 1033? What do I need to do to
restore the news link and make certain it functions properly?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can suggest a work-around.
Place a shortcut to OE on your desktop by clicking Start - Programs then
right clicking OE and under the send-to menu choose desktop. Now on the
desktop icon for OE, right click on it and choose properties. in the
Properties window where it says Target add " /outnews" (without the quotes)
to the end of the target line so that it looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews

This will make OE start up as the Outlook Newsreader.
