Dad just downloaded a file, but cannot open it. It has the extension

What is used to open this, and what exactly is it?

Thank you, Susan. While waiting for a reply, I did a google search, and
so did Dad. It was rather funny, because all we got was a bunch of
monkey $hit. (LOL) When I added the word "extension" after the .ape, I
got a whole different results page, and the most promising was the same
that you sent to me. I emailed your response to Dad so that he can
check it out. He got the email, and says THANKS A BUNCH.
