Although I have read that this is a "kernel error" - whatever that is, I
don't wish to completely restore my computer back to factory settings. Been
there, done that and I seem to come up with the same BSOD error. How can I
find out which software program I am installing is coming up with this error?
I went to the Maintenance - Solutions section and it said it had no answer
for this problem. Microsoft KB has no help on this error either. What do I
do now? Also tried to run chkdsk and it says it is NTFS and goes to 20% of
verifying indexes and hangs there.

I no longer have this problem and I believe it was my purchased screensaver
that was not Vista compatible. Since I removed it, I have not had the BSOD.
Also, I made sure all of my older programs had every patch and update
available. I am gradually replacing what I can with newer versions. Make a
complete backup of your computer regularly. I have had to restore with my
backup and it works. System restore does not. I have never had a computer
where system restore actually did work. Hope this is helpful.
