Just installed Wireless Router (Linksys WRT54GS) so 2 PCs can reach web. No
problem connecting via IE. Direct connection via AOL (when successful) takes
120 seconds minimum to load welcome page. Usually connection drops before
achieved. Went thrufull series of checks and even uninstalled reinstalled AOL
with no resolution. My wife needs the AOL connection or else the 2nd PC was a
wasted purchase. AOL techs could not solve problem.

Is AOL your ISP? IOW, is AOL who you are paying each month for Internet
service? IIRC, AOL connections - because like everything else about AOL
they are non-standard - only work with certain routers. You will need to
check on AOL's website for what routers work with their service. This is
not a Windows problem.

I use Verizon DSL. I will research AOL again, checking router compatibility.
Surprisingly (or maybe not) AOL live chat or telephone conversations revealed
no known problems with my router. Iwill update this iquiry if I learn
anything new.

Since AOL is not your ISP and you're just using their software, try
uninstalling it and reinstalling it. A good way to test if the problem is
limited to the AOL program is to use another browser such as Internet
Explorer or Firefox. If those programs work well, then you know AOL is
damaged in some way. If those programs do *not* work well, then you need to
look elsewhere for the reason.

One PC is brand new with AOL just downloaded. I uninstalled the reinstalled
AOL with no change. The linksys chat site lists a few similar problems as
mine (or worse). I asked the mfr if they know of any incompatibility. No
response yet. Right now the problem seems limited to a 90-120 second delay in
reaching AOLs home page. It looks like my wife can live with the annoyance if
it doesn't worsen.
