AOL on vista

Why would anyone want to? Better to have a real ISP.

To each his own. I gave up on AOL some time ago, but others appear to like it. AOL will get up to speed by rtm, I'm sure.

I started with AOL back in the mid-90's and then dumped them when I realized that everything I needed was on the Internet and I was not using any of the AOL junk, so why have that stuff on my hard drive when Windows came with what I needed to access the stuff I want on the Internet. I know a lot of people who also started with AOL and dumped them when they came to the same conclusion. AOL was good in the old days of BBS but that was then.

That was about my conclusion also.

I've never been a subscriber but have helped countless people with it
get up and running or fixed up after something went wrong.

I think it is primarily aimed at newbies to computers who want to use
the internet and don't want to have to learn too much about what is
involved. This is fair enough. MS's strategy with Vista seems to be
going in that kind of direction too.
 
Yes, they just released a beta AOL 9.0 SE to work in Vista 32 and 64 bit.

They want testers using Win 98 to test AOL? Oh my...
 
AOL has some security software that is useful to Win98 users. There are
still millions of AOL users on Win98 and dialup. There's still money to be
made from Win98.
 
AOL just realeased AOL VC which stands for Vista Compliant.
