AOL IM Launches with Outlook Express

For quite awhile now, whenever I launch Outlook Express,
the AOL Instant Messenger Sign In Window also launches
simultaneously. Lately though, the real problem is that
when I launch Outlook Express, my PC freezes up and I have
to turn it off and start up again. Could anyone shed some
light on these issues? Thanks!

If it were me, I'd uninstall Outlook Express and then reinstall it. Make
sure you've backed up your files first.

As far as AIM goes, I haven't a clue (except it might be starting because it
detects an internet connection when you start Outlook Express if you weren't
already on the net when you opened it).

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Click on tools-options-general tab and you will find a check box that you
need to uncheck which launches AIM upon startup of OE.
