At least it sure feels like it. It takes a noticeable instant for
mouse clicks to register. It's really bad when downloading files and
trying to do something else.

I have e-mail scanning disabled and mem usage has two instances for
avp.exe. I have seen anywhere between 3 Meg and 36 Meg for the SYSTEM
user instance of avp.exe.

Has anyone else experienced this hit?

No, I can't say I have noticed any slowdown. My avp.exe (system) is
running at about 3.5 meg. It doesn't seem to be a problem here. The dam
explorer.exe is burning up 45 meg doing next to nothing.

Yes, I noticed my explorer.exe is unusually high also. I wonder if
avp.exe has its hooks into it. I'm starting to get suspicious.

In my opinion avp.exe has no more system hooks than most AVs and less
than I can recall with Norton. I'm not seeing a problem with AVS on my
Windows XP sp2 system. Your results may vary as they say.

I installed AVS about 4 days ago. I am using w2k on a old
P2(233mz/163mb) laptop and it really slowed things down. Uninstalled it
and went back to AntiVir (much better now).
Here are the running stats-
avguard-16,484 k
avgnt- 2,128 k
explorer.exe-3,368 k
max
