AOEII:Conquerers music not working in XP

I cant get the music to work in the game, the videos and the music for the cut-scenes and main menu work fine but the acutal in game music doesn't work! please help this game has some of the best music ever and id really like to hear it!

Are you able to hear other music CD's when you play them on your system?
If not, the sound cable from the CD to your Sound Card is most likely unplugged.
