Whenever I download a large file (or any file), my IE6 browser first seems
to dl it to a temp file in the cache, and then copies it to the directory
that I chose in the first place. Is there any way to download directly to
the folder I want it in without the cache and temp files getting involved?

Hi Moe Hair :-)

Here are a couple of things that might help:

To change the internet explorer default download directory:-
Start>Run>Regedit>ok
Now navigate to the following key:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet ExplorerIn the right-pane,
change the data to your existing download folder
[Enter full path, eg. E:\Internet\Downloads]

If the entry is not there then create a new String Value [called as REG_SZ]
named Download Directory and set the data accordingly.Reboot your machine.

and........

How to Change the Download Location for ActiveX Files

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

No, there is no way to change that. That's how IE works.
