I have some MTV recording in .vcr format with close caption
on. Unfortunately the files have garbage at start and end.
How can I cut them away? I don't want to convert them to
mpeg using ATI Library because that will wipe out close
captions. Has anyone been doing something like this?

Or is it possible to recording close captions in mpeg2
format? I tried, but no luck.

It's for this reason that I have chosen to record in Mpeg2 format. You can
export the VCR format to Mpeg2 and maybe use some editing software to chop
portions of that mpeg file.

It seems to me that I read just yesterday that you can edit them with
ULead Video Studio 6. It was packaged with my 8500DV.

Before I go buy the software, do you know if Ulead VS 6 would save it as .vcr
file? I do want to keep close caption with these file.

VS can import mpeg 2 files NOT VRC files. The poster regarding VS was
refering to mpeg2 input to remove commercials from the captures. At least i
was under the assumption that the original poster captured using mpeg2 NOT
vcr.

I'm sorry...I was incorrect about Ulead VS being able to import .vcr
files. I thought I had read it somewhere; but I was mistaken.
It's a shame, because most people report that the .vcr codec produces
quality superior to that of mpeg2.

Good Luck,
