Call me a newbie or what you may, but I still don't know what *anyword*
means. Is it a substitute for "anyword" or are there other connotations?

Thanx any and all,

*boldface* _underline_ /italics/

I see the light. Thanx !

Let me try this: I'm *very* sleepy.

Well, I did save a few keystrokes. I've seen that in different contexts and
was confused, but it does make sense that way.

Thanx again.

Gotta love OE-Quotefix. The above actually ARE boldfaced, underlined,
and italics in my newsreader.

That's what's meant to happen. :-)

The only inconsistency is that, in manuscript, underlined words
indicated to the compositor that they should be set in italics; so
I've always used _this is italics_ for words that should, by
convention, be set in italics (e.g. journal titles, latin binomials)
which has left me at a loss about what to do if I just wanted it
*underlined* (so I just use *bold* for empahsis instead :).

Cheers, Phred.
