I have some games that I miss being able to play on Windows Vista Beta 2.
I'm about to get RC1 and was wondering if anyone has had success with ANY
games. I couldn't even get simple games like those found at Shockwave.com
to work the game will download and install but when I try to run it I get an
error similar to what certain webpages would get saying something about an
error ocurred whle using scripts on this page would you like to contiune
using scripts on this page no matter which answer I choose the message just
keeps on popping up. If I try to run a game on a CD my results vary
depending on the game. Like Bejeweled 2 Deluxe flat out refuses to install
even in compatibility mode. When I try to play Max Payne 2 the game installs
and starts but once it gets to the point where it's about to let you take
control of Max the game crashes with an error about my graphics settings
being incorrect and no matter what adjustments I make it doesn't fix it. I
would like to know if any has had any luck with games at all . I bought the
downlaodable version of Splinter Cell Chaos Theory with a 2 yr redownload
gurantee but I don't wanna use it until I'm sure it's gonna work. 4.13GB is
a big downoad to just wate my time installing it and either the Star Force
activation not working or the game not functioning at all.

1) Please use breaks between sentences next time...
2) Star-Force has an updated driver for Vista x86. They say they are working
on an x64 version.
3) Have not played bejewled, or splinter cell. Madden 2005, nascar sim
racing(on x86) and JTF/CoH/Dark Messiah demoes all worked.

So far I've only piddled around with Battlefield 2 on my system. it runs
fine for single plater, but it had issues with Multiplayer and getting it's
punkbuster update. My fix was to turn off UAC, let it run a while and no
more problems. There is probably a better way to do it, but I'm lazy and it
was the easiest.

For the PB part, there is a manual update method for the game, but I wanted
to see how it would behave doing it automagically.

Hi,
the punkbuster issue is because by default BF2 is runnign as non-admin,
and PB needs admin privileges to work. You can get it to work by finding the
BF2.exe file, right click, hit properties, compatability, and check the
option to set it to run as an administrator. When you start BF2 the UAC will
then ask for confirmation to run as admin and the multiplayer should be fixed.

Hope this helps!!

I am able to get ES4 to run (though some missing effects) Perhaps it is a
function of the physical memory that Vista RC1 takes. Closing gagets does not
work to improve things, but disabling opacity effects seems to help a small
bit.

Where lots of physical memory is needed for some games, perhaps these
effects can be disabled automatically when running some full screen games

I am having problems playing Soldier of Fortune II. I get a graphics error
when it tries to load. This is strange because I'm pretty sure I had it
working during the first version of Vista I had installed.

I also have been unable to play any of the Rogue Spear games. They crash as
soon as the menu tries to load.

Anyway, I can successfully play single player versions of Age of Empires II
(RC1 actually fixed a graphics problem in this game for me - the grass was
purple before), Total Annihilation, and Battlefield 1942 all are working well
now.

During Vista Beta 2 Battlefield 1942 was running super slowly for some
reason. Now it rocks.

However, I have not been able to play multiplayer lan games on any of these
games. My other machine is XP Pro SP2 and when I create a multiplayer game
