I have spent big money on a scan elite, but need a cheaper scanner to
do some APS film....I would even consider renting one from someone if I
could ??

Anyone interested in sellnig or renting one ? I am in Melbourne - Aus

Cheers,
Jason

Why not buy one eBay.
Do your project and then resell on eBay?

Do an Ebay search on ASP+scanner returns one currently.

They rarely come up in Australia (i have being casually watching for
over a year) - occasionally they come up overseas - but there is always
a higher risk buying 2nd hand electrical goods off ebay from someone
overseas. The only one currently up on Ebay is in the US.

If anyone has one they are looking at selling - please let me know.

Depending on how much APS film, and the quality of scan needed, you
might consider a "good" flatbed that has the capability to scan film.
I have a Nikon 35mm film scanner that I use for negatives and
slides.... and recently bought a new Epson flat bed for Photographs.
On a lark, I tired it on 35 mm negatives, and was surprised at the job
it did. while not up to the Nikon's quality, especially on contrast,
it did a much better job than I expected.

Try an Epson V700, it isn't locked into a 35mm format, could easily do
APS film. But I don't see why you don't just use the Minolta? Using the
negative holder should be easy to set up for APS.

Thanks Tom,
I will do some research on the v700 - as the the 5400, it cannot do APS
film. The negative holders take strips of four or six negatives, in
order to do this for APS, I would have to open the APS canisters, cut
the negative into similar size strips, scan, some of which wouldn't
work properly because of the size difference of the actual negatives,
then when that was all done I would not be able to get the negatives
back into the canister. It really is way to much work - an APS scanner
would be much better.....therein lies my problem !

:)

Thanks for trying though !

Jason,

I am in Sydney and have an FS4000US. I don't want to rent or sell it
but will try scanning some film if it will help. If interested check
<http://phelum.com> and send me a message.

Thanks Steve,
I appreciate the offer - but I have a stack of APS to scan and would
need a little control over how they are scanned..

But I do appreciate your generous offer ! I am thinking I will have to
save up and purchase another scanner brand new the way I am going !

Cheers,
Jason
