Anyone using 9600+Cat4.11 with SketchUp (openGL) sucessfully?

Hi all,

I just upgraded my Radeon9000 running Cat3.8 to a Radeon9600 running
Cat4.11 - all went well and works except a 3D program called SketchUp. They
officially don't recommend ATI, and suggest nVidia - but I was using my
older 9000 with Cat3.8 perfectly fine on their program. However, now after
the upgrade - I can't get hardware acceleration to stick in that program -
and have to resort to software rendering (which is worst than my original
9000 setup). I was thinking of trying to revert back to my old Cat3.8
drivers to see if that's the case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, disregard what I just wrote, yes its true that openGL drivers can be
mixed & matched, however that was not the problem in my case. I tried a
fairly old OpenGL driver and still the hardware acceleration wouldn't stick.

Its the dual monitor thing - if I disable my secondary monitor - then SU is
fine - the hardware acceleration sticks - regardless of which version of
OpenGL driver is running. However the newer version (Cat 4.11) does a very
nice job of anti-aliasing the fine linework which the older atioglxx.dll
files do not.

FYI, it runs beautifully on a ATI Radeon 9600 with Catalyst v4.11 drivers
(IN SINGLE MONITOR MODE) - as soon as I switch the second monitor back on -
poof! I get an dialog in SU that says my OpenGL settings are reverted to
default due to a change in my display properties or SK registry settings.
Funny, because it used to run with a Radeon9000 with Cat 3.4 drivers in dual
monitor mode just fine.

Hmm, it might be how the Cat drivers signal dual monitor mode?
