Has anyone used MSDE on XPE? How about using it with EWF but on a writeable
partition? I want to know if its possible and if it's forgiving to a power
off.

Could you elaborate? Are you talking about EWF on the OS volume enabled but
the databases existing on a different volume? If you are only talking about
1 disabled volume then it's the same as ignoring EWF.

Either way, SQL Server (MSDE) itself should do fine wrt. power failure due
to it's logging/recovery abilities.

Tim,

There should be no problem with MSDE if you move database and transaction log to an unprotected volume.

We created MSDE component and used it on various images (Minlogon, Winlogon, EWF or not).

Thank you gordon and km for you help.
