I am getting the following two errors from my browser (IE
6) when I go to the page I created using a data access
page in access 2000.

"Disk or network error", followed immediately by "Data
provider cannot be initilaized"

After these two errors the page displays and shows the
fields and navigation bar but the database linked fields
show #Name? in each field.

The web server is running IIS and MDAC versions as
required and the client pc has OWC installed via Office
2000 Pro as needed.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem?

The data access page operates perfectly on a local basis
on my development machine, but once I publish it and the
database to the web server I get these errors. I'm happy
my connection string is linking to the correct location
and file name for the database as I have checked that
with the people who run the web server. As my page is
using the OWC for its database interface which is
a "strange" control which the web server owners know
nothing about, they are unable to help me any further and
have said I am on my own.

Thanks for that.

I'm wondering if maybe its a security issue, and the web
server owner is not being at all helpful as he says he
has no knowledge of the OWC conponents, and doesnt like
the idea of running data access web pages on his server
that have been developed from within access as they will
be inefficient etc. (He loves low level hand coding of
html, scripts, asp etc and doesnt trust access to do it
correctly, whereas I like and have had great success at
RAD with several high level code generators rather than
low level stuff). I dont really want to have to pay
Microsoft New Zealand $350 for a support call to help me
resolve the problem as it is just an experiment at this
stage, but without help from the web server owner I might
have to. The info in that article is way over my head and
complicated in the security area. I cannot simply use a
different web server because of the unhelpful server
owner as this is work I am doing for a customer, and it
is the web server they use for all their web stuff.

Any help would be much appreciated
