Gaim is my primary chat tool (jabber). I use these two additional plug-ins.

I have it installed, but I don't use it. It doesn't let you log in as
invisible. You can only 1st log in then manually switch to invisible.
I'm using windowsXP and Trillion seems to be the only multi-chat client that
will remember to log me in as invisible.

Miranda indeed has no problems remembering your previous sign-in status.
