Avast 5 has a sandbox now. I wonder if anyone has used it yet? I'm
wondering how easy it is to use, or is it pain in the butt? Sandboxie
is easy, I know. My Avast license is running out and I want to know
if I should stick using 4.8 pro or get the new one with the sandbox
feature. No, I do not want to fool around downloading a trial
version.

Thanks for any help.

Easy to use (and I probably ought to use it more often). Under Real Time
Shields there is a Process Virtualization tab. On the tab's page, click
on "Run a virtualized process" and launch [whatever]. It works on the
usual Windows shortcuts, so if your browser, for example, has a shortcut
on the desktop then you don't need to go digging down into Program
Files.

I don't know how *well* it works as a sandbox. Doesn't seem to adversely
affect browser performance.

I don't quite trust Avast with its multitude of vague menu choices in
Settings. I'll guess I'll hold off until I hear some more input on it
in the groups. I have till August, so I'm in no hurry. I don't
trust first version software. :o)

Thanks for answering.

A trial version allows you to evaluate for yourself according to your own
criteria if something is worth anything to you. It almost sounds like you want
some stranger in a usenet forum to do this evaluation for you.
Are you gullible or just lazy?
