Hi all...I am looking for "sticky notes". But, not just regular old sticky
notes...is there a type of program that will pop something up on my desktop
to remind me of something happening that day/week?? It doesn't necessarily
have to be a sticky note LOL...I'm just lookin for a reminding-type thing
that will pop up and remind me of important dates, times etc, a day or two
before they happen. TIA

I've used them all and don't really have a preference. They are all nice
reminders. Rainlendar is mainly just a calendar though. The others are
reminders.

ATnotes does both quite well. A must have application, in my opinion.

I use Stickies 4.5a for that purpose -

Hi, I had used some sticky notes program for this but they all
need to run in background. This one make use of the Window
task schedule and you won't have anything extra runing in the
backgroud. It is also very flexible with commandline support.
High recommanded for the purpose you stated:

http://www.phatsoft.net/default.html

"TMR • a smart reminder

--------------------------------------------------------------
------------------

TMR is a smart utility designed for people who need a
lightweight reminder or are looking for a fast way to automate
simple tasks. You can schedule messages or actions, like
shutting down or restarting your computer, opening a file, or
starting an application, with either a few clicks or from the
command line.
TMR is designed to work on windows scheduled tasks, so it
won't waste your system resources running in the background,
and you'll have all the advanced scheduling features provided
by the os.

Hi and thanks all for your responses. I ended up using Bill's idea of
Stickies 4.5....it was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Perfect...for times
when I need to have something pop up on my screen to remind me, for
example, to send in money for a school field trip. I HATE having a cluttered
desktop and this program is perfect to avoid that! Thanks again all!

I like Birthday Reminder; www.cweiske.de

It's in my startup group and comesup when I switch on each day and
shows whats ahead - the time it looks forward is programmable.

I used to use Event 52, shareware, but B/R is easier to enter,
specially as Event52 uses Merkin dates, and generally better.

Of course the key to my operation is run at boot, then close it, but if
this would suit you I think you'd like it

In fact, as it's AKAIK the only one like this, I think it should be in
Pricelessware

You may want to try Sheer Notes by Kevin Solway. v.1.1 is at

<http://www.theabsolute.net/sware/#sheernotes>

Here's the author's description:

"Sheer yellow notes on your desktop. Great for to-do lists, reminders,
and for processing text. Notes windows are fully resizable, and can be
made semi-transparent, so they can be visible all the time, while still
being relatively innocuous. Text style features. Save selected text to
disk in RTF format. Sticks to your desktop, or can be forced to go above
all other windows."

I use ATNotes here, does all the things you need. It even allows you
to send notes to another computer over the network (if it has ATNotes
running, of course). Very handy to send "to do" type notes to your
work computer from home :-)
