I found a bunch of temp internet javascripts in my temp directory:

http: / / a . a s - u s . f a l k a g . n e t/

Can't find anything about this on the net- wonder if it had anything to do
with my drive getting fried last night. (lots of read/write errors-) when I
enter the drive through BIOS_ all it says is "GRUB".......

ARGHHH
Thanks

Well, GRUB is a bootloader.
Try putting "falkay.net" in Google or another search engine.

Sounds like you need to reinstall your chooser. You can access help from
that grub screen iirc.

falkag are an advert-serving business, used by theregister.co.uk for
example. If by "temp directory" you mean the temporary internet files, this
is expected behaviour and should not be considered unusual unless your
anti-virus says otherwise :-)

I would expect the JavaScript files are part of how a web site/banner ad
chooses which advert to show etc.

And their record re safety isn't the best one, see

It turned out, a loadbalancer of Falk had been hacked to include more
"ad servers" than there were within the Falk company. The additional
one was the source of the BOFRA attacks.

Tells another not so pleasant story about them...

Quite, hence my use of Privoxy, to stop that and many other annoyances and
dangerous things:

It's only a matter of time before more ad-serving sites like Falk AG get
hacked to help infect the masses, it makes sense.

??? Confused.....
Thx

Boot with your Linux boot disk and consult the documentation (info grub)
to see how to reinstall the grub bootloader to the harddrive.

Ahh,
I'm win xp, not Linux. Perhaps that is my root problem- Winders...

AFAIK 'GRUB' is a bootloader for multiboot systems (GRand Unified
Bootloader) and doesn't come with Windows.

Maybe you're infected with Linux. :))
