With XP SP2 I'm supposed to be able to view the Manage Add-ons property page,
but when I try the menu for this, nothing happens, no error, nothing.

Since I already had some other issues with getting SP2 installed, I was
wondering if this control panel file (.cpl) was somehow never installed.

I've had the CoolWebSearch.Searchx malware for quite some time now and have
moved onto using Firefox, but I still need IE for a few small uses. I was
hoping that turning something off in this control box would alleviate my
Searchx problem.

Any yes I have used CWShredder and recently installed Norton Anti-Virus. I
also use AdAware as well as SpyBot. Nothing seems to permanently solve the
problem.

Hi Jeff,

Type this command from Start, Run dialog:

regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\system32\extmgr.dll
