Anyone know of a good free video convertor

I have some MKV video shows and want to watch them on my 360 so i need it converting to either avi or mpeg

I'll 2nd that - if I ever need to convert anything, this thing can handle it all .

cant seem to convert to avi with this. Any others anyone knows? i think even converting to wmv would be ok too
