anyone know how to print white colors on transparents?

anyone know how to print white colors on transparents? (Decalsheets or
Overheadsheets)

I know there HAVE BEEN printers that could, but they are out of
production, and I can only rely on current technology due to
availability of spares, service and consumables.

I hope you're aware that on a transparency, clear makes white when it's
projected on a white screen.
White makes nothing.

Surely there are still printers being sold that can print white...?

I don't know of any, but here's a thought...if your transparencies are clear
plastic, what about printing them in reverse/negative print? If you did
that, any normally unfilled area would be printed in black and the white
areas would be left unprinted.

I know, but it's actually for printing decals. The transparent
overhead sheets were only mentioned to emphasize the need for a real
WHITE printing color....

Printing in reverse/negative print does only have the desired effect
on white underground, the sheets I have to print on are transparent,
and are to be used to print WHITE color.

You have to do one of four things

1/. Get a printer that prints white..yes there are some..

2/. Use a white decal paper.

3/. Pant the decal paper white before printing

4/. paint whatever it's to go on white first.

DJ-

I understand your problem and don't know of a current printer that
prints white. There might be some used in the printing industry, but
they are likely to be quite expensive. If you are near a professional
print shop (not just Kinkos), you might ask them if they know of such a
machine.

If you do a web search, consider looking for a computer-controlled silk
screen system. I'm not sure if that would work for you, but may be the
way commercial decals are made.

An alternative is to use white material such as sold for making Bumper
Stickers. If that won't do, just let them be clear.

thanks very much for this input. The Fast T-Jet link didn't come
through here, but I suppose this is the one you mean:

Obviously 260.000 USD for a printer is way out of my league, but the
Sunchemical option may be of interest, I am trying to get info from

I think there certainly USED to be one, because this issue came up
somewhere.

I THINK it was an epson or a canon.

The one I'm thinking of was made by Alps. The company discontinued
their printers in 2000, and has announced an end to printer support in
March, 2007. See

Another company that comes to mind, is Fargo. They have transitioned to
custom printers for Photo ID badges using their printer technology. See

The alps was the one I remembered.

Its a bitch innit? because white decal paper neesd to be cut to the
exact outline.

I am thinking that I know someone who dos vinyl graphics that works with
a laser cutting guy as well..maybe one could print on white and get them
laser cut :-)
