I am interested in discussing issues and tips etc in setting up a system
with A2 Pt and ATI AIW 9800 Pro (or any other Radeon AIW).

These are popular hardware. Anyone here willing to discuss (especially on
how to get multichannel sound with these )?

I have a 7500 and 9700 AIW's with audigy 2 platinum's multi-channel is tough the 4.1 5.1 6.1 works but the sub, I could never
get to work, The front and rear are full spectrum all the time. CMSS & CMS (faking multi channel) when only a stereo source is
present. The video card will capture multi channel if you have an AC3 codec that will work. I have not found one.

How have you connected the audio out from the AIW to the A2? I don't see
the multichannel options or passthrough to A2 in ATI DVD Audio options. I'm
using Cat 3.8 and MMC 8.7

as I was saying there is no multichannel out or digital out on the video card the audio/video dongle has a 3.5mm mini jack goes to
the' line in' on the sound card cmss/ex control panel in the creative software.
will 'fake a multichannel' sound

AIW 9800 has digital SPDIF connector which is unused at this time on my
system. Maybe that's why I am not seeing the multichannel options described
on page 93 of MMC 8.5 manual:

http://www.ati.com/support/manualpd...MEDIA+CENTER&prod=PCmmc&submit.x=8&submit.y=5

This says "The Multimedia Center supports standard DVD-Video, which provides
stereo and compressed, multi-channel surround sound using Dolby® Digital or
DTS® encoding."

I don't see the option "Dolby Pro Logic" or "Enable S/PDIF" mentioned on
pages 93 and 94 of the MMC 8.5 manual.

I understand you want to use spdif...there are numerous controls in the creatives 'audio headquarters' in the control panel to get
you started. I have not used this yet..I always have problem getting it to work else where, I will give it a try.
