I have created a powerpoint show (in Ppt 2003) with linked sound files.
Even though
it runs perfectly on my computer, when I package for CD and then burn
the CD it sometimes runs perfectly, and sometimes the sound files cut
off too soon or run together.

I read some suggestions online and changed all of the settings that
indicated the sound should stop playing after XXX slides from the
number (i.e. 2 or 3 or 5 etc) to "stop playing after 999 slides".

I did the same with the couple of slides that said "stop playing after
current slide". Then I burned the CD again.

It didn't seem to help. Each time we put the CD on to run, it does
different things.

I am ready to scream! Can anyone help??

Have you tried saving your sound files in a folder that is saved onto the
same CD? I don't have much experience with 2003 but that is what I've done
in the past. The sound works on your computer because it can get to the
sound file on your computer but if you move to another computer it can't find
the file but won't tell you that.
Also, have you set your sound file linking to a large number? That's under
Tools, Options, General: link sounds with file size greater than ?kb. Not
sure if this is what you need, but hope it helps.

Thanks OTR but the sound files are packaged to the CD using the program
built into ppt.
And yes, the sound file linking is adequate. I still haven't found out
how to correct the problem I'm having. Thanks for responding, though.

Try imbedding the wave files as part of the presentation. Linking the files
can present problems.
