I have never dealt with Monarch.I trust the reviews at www.resellerratings.com.
They have been accurate for the companies I have dealt with. They give
Monarch a very high rating.

I have bought from them in the past 5 or 6 times. Always had fast shipping.
I had an issue with a defective item once, E-mailed them, had a response
within 20minutes! They also covered my return shipping and I had a new item
in 3 days after I shipped the defective item. I would recommend them.

I'm looking to build a fairly unique system and Monarch Computer Systems
(www.monarchcomputer.com) seems to be reasonable and will ship to Canada.

Has anyone dealt with them?

Thx!
I've only ever bought computer parts from them, not complete systems, but
they've always had competitive prices and fast shipping. Have never had a
complaint or problem so I don't know how their customer service is.

This all sounds great! Planning on spending more than $3000 there so I want
to be as careful as possible.

.... has anyone from Canada purchase from them?

Contact the CCRA for duty rates on a PC shipped from the US. My guess is
that it would be less expensive to have it built north of the border.

Probably, but I can't find a supplier for many of the parts...

- Tyan Thunder S2885 mainboard
- Lian-Li PC626 (SC-05) case

.... and with the US->Cdn conversion, many of the parts are a fair bit
cheaper.

- OCZ 256meg DDR400 Registered ECC memory @$80 US = $107 Cdn. That's the
same price as unregistered non ECC north of the border.
- Maxtor 250gig SATA (7Y250M0) is $190 US = $255 Cdn. Here the cheapest I
can find is $300+. I need EIGHT of these drives. That's $400 savings by
going to the US.

Monarch has USPS shipping charges WITH the Duty/Brokerage fees included but
it's over $100. Seems like it's still a bargain at this point though.

Why registered ECC ram? Are you having the build a dual Opteron server?

Yup... Want this machine to be stable as possible. I've also had conflicting
reports as to whether or not the Tyan mainboard requires registered memory,
so I want to play it safe.
