I want to display PowerPoint slide shows on an ordinary TV set via DVD. Is
there any software about which accepts PowerPoint files and converts to DVD,
retaining all of Powerpoint features and animations ?

There's no software that does it automatically in a satisfactory way.

TAJ describes a manual way:

Picture a DVD player with an 80-400 GB hard drive and the ability to record to
DVD RAM or DVD R. Kind of like a VCR with different technology. Some even have
built-in Ethernet connection. Connect to your video card as a secondary
monitor, play the presentation and record.

That's how I've done it. Set the device to Auxilary input and cable the video
card's secondary video out port to the DVD player's auxilary input port.

Ignore that. (I had to get under my desk to check my memory.) I connect the
S-video port on my system's video card to the S-video input on the DVD player.
The audio also needs to be cabled between your sound card and the DVD player, if
the presentation contains sound.

I heard of an excellent software names PowerPoint2DVD, all your
powerpoint features, background music and images, will be kept as
original. You may download it from http://www.powerpoint-to-dvd.com
You will find it is useful!
