Lou

Does anyone know what happened to the other newsgroups
when I try to go to general xp newsgroup get message
newsgroup not available. Past few days when I did get
newsgroup if I tried to go back a page get newsgroup not
available. Thanks for any response going to check for pods
now.

I was just able to get to the Windows XP General newsgroup using Outlook
Express. What reader are you using?

Thanks,

There have been problems that make the newsgroups unavailable to web
users. There have been NNTP-specific problems that are plaguing Outlook
Express newsreaders and the ISP news servers have been having troubles
syncing with msnews.

It's a mess, caused by the swen floods. Microsoft support folks are
working night and day on the problems but they have a large bank of
servers and re-syncing them internally is time-consuming.

All I can say is be patient and don't give up on news-based user support
just yet.

Kent thank you very much for the info I thought there
must be a problem. A call to microsoft didn't answer it
and all the post I have made got responses that I am
pretty much an idiot for not having OE up and running but
I figured as I have cable connection I could eliminate a
lot of problems by not having e-mail on my machine but
having it offsite with my ISP, does this make any sense, I
never get much spam or attacks and I figure this is why.
Thanks again looking forward to having access to NG with
IE6,

Using the web interface tends to brand you as a newbie, much like using
AOL did when AOL first interconnected to the Internet. But the web
interface should be improving soon, making it easier to avoid newbie
gaffs when using it.

If off-site email works for you, I'm not one to argue you into changing.
