any way to move image files efficiently?

Now I see how I'd like my image files to be organized - but the images on
the 70-some pages I have now are not organized that way. If I just move an
image or rename an image folder in FP 2002, FP doesn't update the links. I
have to go into each page and use Picture Properties and Browse to enter the
new address. I tried using Find & Replace on a test page, but it didn't
work.

If I update to FP2003, will FP update the links when I move images? Or is
there some other solution?

Obviously it's not life or death. I can leave the current image files as
they are and just organize new images better as I need them. But it would be
nice to clean things up a bit without redoing every page by hand.

If you have a web open (file menu | open web) when you rename your images or move them between
folders, etc. then FP should update all pages.

Don't use windows explorer to do this. You need to work through FP and open
the web.
Renaming and moving files can be done by rightclicking the file. You can
select multiple files for moving by holding ctrl and clicking or use
edit/select all. Renaming folders and files this way will allow FP to
update accordingly.

I've been doing it inside FP. Drag and drop updates links fine when I move a
page around. It's just the images for which this doesn't update the links.
I'll try the right click method. Thanks!

This is odd. Now dragging image file around seems to work fine, with all the
links updating. Can't replicate my problem although I'd encountered it more
than once. Anyway, it seems to work fine now. Thanks.

Maybe my problem was that I was renaming folders of images instead of making
a new folder and dragging the images into it. Should renaming a folder cause
FP to redo all the links so they're still correct on the pages that use the
images in that folder?

"should" and "will" are very different things in the world of FP. For the
most part it's fairly reliable but always check the changes before
publishing.

As long as you rename a folder via FP, then FP will update links, unless the links are to image
displayed via JavaScript, etc.
