So, I've now played with outlook 2003 for a few days, and I singularly disappointed.

The new desing of the main interface causes me to spend a lot of extra time looking for the information I need. This is mainly because the list of email's are no longer a list with different columns, it is now broken down into consecutive sender and subject lines.

Quickly scanning the list for an email from a particular person is now hard, since the list is interrupted. And quickly scanning for a subject is impossible, since the subject text is so light I have to concetrante to even read it...

*sigh* I was so looking forward to his upgrade... I spend several hours a day in outlook, and had such high expectations... But again, microsoft has managed to "fix" what wasn't broken... And if I can't get the old interface design back, microsoft loses a sale.

Select View, Reading Pane, Bottom.

You can also go to: View|Toolbars|Customize

There you can put appropriate buttons on your toolbar to easily switch between views.

along with changing the preview to the bottom, you can change the color of
the text in the list - click on the header row and choose customize. it's an
automatic formatting option
