I want to know if there's a way to download a complete set of Windows Update
patches to be installed at a later date?

I want to reformat my computer hard drive and reinstall Windows 2000. For
security reasons, I want to keep it offline and out of the internet. It
will be used strictly for software development.

I want to download all the Windows Update patches at once from another
computer (with internet) and then apply to this "offline" computer at a
later date.

Is that possible?

Ya can start here:

Please reply to this thread/article only and not the binary
lines of the actual ep posts....If you don't know how to keep
it in the same thread, create a new thread with comments or
issues(if you use GrabIt I'll understand). If you reply using
a binary line in a response I will not see them and of course
won't respond and can't help.

There isn't one on Microsoft.com website?

Of course there is, but it's a very obscure & complicated procedure to
find it:

1. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/
2. Click on "Downloads" on the left side of the page.
3. Click on "Windows (Security & Updates)" on the left side of the
page that comes up after step 2.
4. Scroll down (if necessary) and pick the appropriate version of
Windows from the drop-down list under "Product/Technology".
5. Click "Go"

This will give you the first of probably many pages of download
entries. You may wish to sort them by date, starting with the oldest,
by clicking on the "Release Date" twice (once to sort latest first,
then again to reverse it.) I find it handy to open the pages for the
download files in a separate tab by dragging & dropping the link so I
can more quickly get to the next file in line.

I also suggest prepending a more descriptive name on files that are
ambiguously named, perhaps including the release date.

There isn't one on Microsoft.com website?

Does it matter?
Okay, if you feel you need an "official" site than I apologize for
posting it..........It's much easier to grab from there than sort
through the chaotic MS pages.........

Upon further review, the site that you pointed out is great. It simply
links to download.microsoft.com, which is an "official" repository for the
updates.

simplicity if anything......... ;0)
