Any tv tuner does more than 125 channels?

My cable tv has channels above 125 but my ATI AIW 8500 can
only do 125 channels. So I'm curious to know if there are
cards does more than 125 channels? It doesn't have to be
ATI.
 
Well depending on the VCR type, most can go way past 125 channels right? So you hook the VCR up to your card and put the
card on channel 3 or 4 depending on VCR setting.....hit the TV/VCR button so you are tuning in with the VCR....then just
use the VCR tuner to access whatever channels you need....basically you are just using the VCR as a tuner and
remote.....better yet, if you can find one of the older TV top converters....get them really cheap at a Goodwill kinda
place or pawn shop I imagine...

Um, standard analog cable TV supports a maximum of 125 channels. Analog
off-air TV (via antenna) supports a maximum of 69 channels. If he has
channel numbers above 125 then he has a digital cable system which is NOT
supported by the AIW or any other in-computer TV tuner (except by hooking up
an external digital cable box (likely rented from the cable company) to the
AIW's composite/svideo-in port).

Chances are some of his channels are still analog and could be received by
the AIW's built-in tuner. Around here analog channels stop around the 80's,
then switch to digital.

Generally, channels above 100 are digital channels. Currently, you have
to use a set-top box to receive them. I read there is now a standard for
some sort of security card so that TV's (and possibly computer TV tuners)
can access digital channels. I'm guessing it'll be a bit like satellite
security.
