Do any of you who build systems for profit use Ebay as a supplier or the
items they claim are new? Thanks. They have some cheap buy it now prices.
I saw a lot of geforce2 64mp video cards cheap on there, supposedly new.

I'm really starting to wonder if some of these people are selling warranty
returns there? I've gotten LOTS of DOA "new" parts or used stuff with weird
problems that were supposed to be "working pulls".. I'm done with buying
computer parts there of any kind.

I've gotten some things from eBay at good prices, everything worked,
everything shipped within 2-3 days of payment. The exception was 3 "AS-IS"
P4 socket 478 boards I bought for $5 each. I didn't have a cpu to test them
so I gave 2 of them away, keeping the Intel 854G just in case I stumble on a
P4 cpu. If you intend to bid on eBay check the vendor's ratings, generally
the higher rated vendors (with the most purchasers) will back the product
and give you decent goods. BTW I wouldn't consider the GF2 a bargain
unless it's under $30. I've see GF3-t500s for $60 which are equivalent to
GF4-t4200s.
I always wonder how these people are able to sell components even cheaper
than most wholesalers/importers. Hmm returns maybe...
But to answer your question ... no i personally dont use Ebay to buy
components as I give a warranty with my systems and I know if a faulty
component comes back I will get it swapped for new by my wholesaler. Ebay
traders come and go (even with good feedback) they might not be around in 9
or 10 months time when a faulty component comes to light...
I also dont know how some of the ebay system sellers make a living on ebay
.... There is so much competition that they are selling systems for silly
prices... couple that with ebays fees etc they cant be making more than
£10-£20 on a system build .... unless..... they are using second hand
parts..... who knows!

I won one "tested" unit that turned out DOA. In another transaction, I
won a hi-end multichannel DVR board (simu 4 channel @ 25 fps). It was
packed very poorly and broken in transit.
