Dave

Time to update my P2B soon. I was instructed to NOT try to update my
current board, but to buy a new and faster board.
I am thinking about my new system and wondered if anyone is using this
A7N8X-VM board and will comment on it.
I am thinking having the video built onto the board might be ok. ;-)

Or I might just go with the A7N8X board.

This will be mated to an AMD Athlon XP 2500 CPU and probably powered by an
AMD recommended Allied 300watt PS.

I want to possibly do some video editing and recording to a DVD with this
computer.

TIA,
dave

I have a A7N8X Deluxe and my wife has the A7N8X-VM. For internet
surfing she is quite pleased.

She has a 2600 and I have a 3000 with a Radeon 9800 Pro no
overclocking.

My PC runs almost twice as fast.

As far as video editing either should be plenty. I burn DVD's with a
900Mz before the 3000. For video editing you may want to go with the
faster maching. This is a real chruching task for any PC.

The built-in video really makes the case look empty.

So I will conclude from your statement that with your external video card,
it makes your computer much faster??
And the A7N8X-VM works well.
I will also assume that an external video card could be installed on the -VM
board and possibly make it faster as well??

thanks for the quick info! :-)

Check that there are enough PCI slots -- the A7N8X-VM is light on that
front -- and that the board you choose has the disk facilities you
need. Newer boards come with SATA capability, which I found an easy
way to keep throwing more hard disks into the machine. And you might
want that disk space for video files.

My Build List so far:
A7N8X-VM
mated to an AMD AthlonT XP 2500+ (333 FSB)
probably powered by an AMD recommended Allied 300watt PS.
I already have a new WD 40gig 7200 HD for starts.

Found some Centon 512MB PC2700 Memory Module Brand/Model: MEI 512MBPC2700
regularly $99.99 now on sale at Circuit City, ($49.99 after rebates). I am
not fond of Limit One rebate! lol
Is this a good module to use?
Comments welcomed!
