My humble opinion is that this is way beyond what PCs are capable of -
it's a bit star trek don't you think? picking out the words would be
agrd enough - think how long it takes to train a commercial voice
regnogniton sytem for your own voice... sorry, but no way

Even if you could solve all of the substantial problems involved in
arbitrary voice recognition, you would still have major difficulties in
making an automated translation to English. There's just way too much
idiom and context for current algorithms to cope with.

For instance, your original message, cleaned up a bit:

and don’t have subtitles. My question is, does anyone know of a program

....translated to Russian and back to English would be:

Hi, here the matter; 4 download strangers kinoiye are much. Only problem
will be I he wanted would be to understand them, in proportion to
majorities it is not located on the English and there is not subtitles.
My question, any does know programs which it can establish sub names on
the English, or even to improve, it does transfer entire kinoyego to to
English? Thanks previously.

Picosecond, kinoiye, I is which I want to transfer to to English
everything in my difficult drive.

One of my favorite stories concerning circular translations, from Carl
Sagan IIRC, has "out of sight, out of mind" coming back as "invisible
idiot." (Babelfish's trip through Russian yields "from the sighting,
from the reason.")

I'm afraid a single software package that does that is yet to exist. A
system using speech-to-text (like Dragon Dictate), translation (like
Systrans), text-to-speech (like Natural Voices) and a some video
editing software should be able to do the job moderately well. However
the results would be far from perfect. Give some money to a starving
linguist if you want to change that :-)

If you really want to do a StarTrek Universal Translator then it's not
really possible now and the resluts if you try would be rubbish. If you
just want to watch your movies then install VobSub and look for
subtitle files at:

http://divxstation.com/subtitles.asp

or

http://www.extratitles.to

Also, you should be asking this in the bittorrent forums..

Well, if you have Divx or ripped DVD files (VOB) you could go hunting for the
subtitles you need. You can find the alternate subs' torrents by searching for
the movie's title freqently. Then, of course there are sites with subs like
this http://www.divxsubtitles.net/

A google search for "DVD subtitles" will yield many more.

As far as avi files, etc, I think you're out of luck. Unless you REALLY want it
bad and author those avi's to VOBs and get some subs and pray they synch
up...(hehehehe)
