I have this problem only in IE, pictures on my computer
are fine but any one on any page I view is distorted. I
assume it must be a setting somewhere and not my monitor,
any suggestions?

Try this:
*In Internet Explorer, go to Tools | Internet Options, click on the
"Advanced" tab, and UNCHECK "Smart image dithering"

*Also if necessary: UNCHECK "Enable Automatic Image Resizing"

*Go back to the "General" tab and Delete your Temporary Internet Files.

AOL users: if pictures are blurry; try clicking: MyAOL;Preferences:WWW;Web
Graphics and turning compressed graphics OFF. You may need to reload or
clear your cache.

If you get an answer to this please let me know. I am
having the same problem. You can send an email to my
Yahoo address (e-mail address removed). Thank you so much.

i did this, and nothing changed... also, when i rightclick
on any jpg (this only happens with jpg, not with tif or gif
or png files), the 'show picture' option is greyed out and
unclickable... as is also the 'cut' and 'paste' options..
what's driving me crazy is two things...
1) this only happens in IE, not in Netscape
2) there must be a lot of programs that maybe use some core
part of IE? cuz a LOT of programs i've tried to install or
run, i get the same problem.. like with windows media
player or real player, i get the 'mosaic' pixel effect...

What OS are you using?
What Video card?
Do you have the latest drivers for your video card?
Is this AOL's version of IE?
