I have two sites with worldwebhosters and I am sick and fed up with them
they are now offline more than on and I found them in this newsgroups so I
am disappointed as they were such a good bargain. Please tell me if you are
haing problems with them if you are using them them.
thank you
Stella

I am having BIG TIME trouble with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When there is no problem, they are fine and I've never had down time, but
change one little thing (like billing method) and it all goes haywire. I've
been fighting with them since the 15th to get my FP extensions re-loaded
(since they blew out my site when I changed billing method). They answer my
emails every few days, but it sounds like a new person every time... and not
a very bright one at that.

I will be moving my site to http://www.pjlhosting (where I have other sites)
when I am financially able. I am definitely sick of World Web Hosters.

Yes, they are cheap, but that's no excuse. I gave up phone support and a few
features for cheap. I did not count on inadequate response to problems.

I'm with you! Fed up and angry!

Seems that most worldwebhosters clients are having problems. I have
given up sending them e-mails regarding problems with our account.

In fact their servers (at least the server they have us on) are run by
ev1servers (used to be rackshack) who are a huge company with a great
reputation.

My impression is that these guys have contracted a couple of dedicated
servers from ev1 and are just pulling in $12 - $35 per year from
people then forgetting them. More than likely their logic is that
noone is going to sue them over $10.

As for me I am shifting over to www.enhancedhosts.com (also known as
aussiehosts.com) who for $27.5/year are giving mee 100Mb + 6Gb per
month. Their technical support has so far been fantastic; better than
some friend of mine are getting for $150/year hosting plans.

How much support do you really expect for $12 to $35 per year?

And for the host to make a decent amount of money, they have to overload the
server with clients (websites).

I agree with you Thomas that one should not expect huge amounts of
support for $12 - $35 per year and obviously should not be hosting
mission-critical sites on such services. That said I am absolutely
overawed at the support provided by enhancedhosts (which I think is
really just the US name of aussiehosts). I feel almost guilty at the
amount of support Marita and Gary on their support desk have given me
in the past couple of days for just a meagre $27.5 per year.

The problem is that people such as worldwebhosters are really giving
the low-end hosting industry a bad name. They lease a couple of
$89/month servers from ev1 and then are just out there looking for
first-timers (such as me or the original poster) to hopefully sign-up
for one of their $350-for-life plans (which thankfully I did not
buy!). While I can appreciate that they do not want 10 e-mails/day
from every customer, they could at least make certain that they
perform minimum maintenance (such as keeping their DNS services up!)
so that at least the site is available.

From now on my minimum requirement for a hosting company, irrespective
of cost, is that they have an online forum that is obviously in active
use. From my own experience it takes a lot of effort to run an active
forum and for that for me shows a necessary degree of concern for good
old-fashioned customer care, which incidentally is anyhow something
that money alone cannot provide.
